The county, not one town
Across all of Greater Manchester
Ten boroughs, and no two of them move the same way. A flat above a bar on Deansgate, a stone cottage above Diggle and a warehouse unit in Trafford Park need three different vans, three different crews and three different plans. Covering the whole conurbation means knowing that before we quote.
City-centre and Quayside apartments
Manchester and Salford have gone vertical. A move out of Ancoats, NOMA or Salford Quays is a building-management job before it is a lifting job — the goods lift gets booked, the loading bay gets reserved, and someone has to know which service entrance actually opens. We sort that with the concierge before the van leaves the yard.
Terraces, semis and the mill-town streets
Most of the county is not a tower block. It is Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Oldham, Rochdale and Bolton, interwar semis across Bury and Stockport, and post-war estates through Wigan and Tameside. Narrow back streets, on-street parking and steep front steps decide what size vehicle we bring and how many trips it takes.
Market towns and the Pennine edge
Saddleworth, Ramsbottom, Marple and the moorland fringe are a different proposition again — single-track approaches, stone cottages with awkward doorways, and lanes a full-size lorry simply cannot turn in. We shuttle with a smaller van where we have to, and we say so in the quote rather than finding out on the day.
Offices, workshops and retail units
Business moves across the county run on someone else’s clock. We work evenings and weekends, label by desk and department, and get IT crated properly so the new site opens without a scramble. Trafford Park units, city-centre offices and high-street shops all get the same treatment.

Greater Manchester is stitched together by the M60 ring and the motorways that spoke off it. Which one we take is not academic — it decides whether your load goes in one run or two, and whether the crew arrives fresh.

How we run a move
Everything agreed before the van turns up
Most of what goes wrong on moving day was decided weeks earlier, by nobody writing it down. So we write it down. The survey tells us what is coming with you and what stays. The access notes tell the crew where to park, which door opens, and whether the lift needs booking.
That sheet goes to the team doing the job, not just into a file. It is why the crew that arrives already knows about the bollard outside your gate and the piano that has to come out through the front window.
If something changes — you sell a wardrobe, the completion slips, the new place turns out to have a shared stairwell — tell us and we redo the plan. Better a revised sheet than a surprise on the day.

Long distance
Out of the county, and a long way further
A move from Stockport to Stockwell is a different job from a move from Stockport to Sale. Different vehicle, different crew planning, different rules about what can sit on a lorry overnight. We do both, and we quote them differently because they are not the same work.
South and London
M6 down to the M42, round to the M40 or M1, into the M25. The standard run for job relocations and families heading to the South East.
Scotland and the North
M61 to the M6, over Shap and up to the central belt. Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Borders, with an overnight stop where the job needs one.
Midlands, Wales and the South West
Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and the far West Country — long single-drop runs rather than shared loads where the volume justifies it.

Common questions
Do you cover the whole of Greater Manchester, or just the city?
All ten boroughs — Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan — plus the towns inside them like Altrincham, Sale, Ashton-under-Lyne, Middleton, Leigh and Eccles. We also work the edges where the county runs into Cheshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire.
How do you work out what a move costs?
Volume, distance and access. How much is coming with you, how far it is going, and how hard it is to get it in and out at both ends. A ground-floor flat with a driveway is a different job from a third-floor walk-up on a permit street. We survey first, by video or in person, then put the figure in writing.
Can you move me out of a city-centre apartment block?
Yes, and that is a specific kind of job. Most blocks in Manchester and Salford require the goods lift to be booked, a loading bay reserved and sometimes a certificate of insurance lodged with the building manager. Tell us the building and we will deal with the concierge before moving day.
Do you do long-distance moves out of the region?
Regularly. Greater Manchester to London and the South, up to Scotland, across to Wales and the South West. Long-distance work is planned differently from a local move — vehicle choice, crew rest and overnight security all change — so it gets quoted as its own job.
Will you pack for me?
We can do the lot, or just the awkward parts. Plenty of people pack their own books and clothes and leave us the kitchen, the glassware and the wardrobes. Materials come from us either way, and anything we pack is covered on the same terms as the rest of the load.
