Volume, distance and access. How much is coming with you, how far it is going, and how hard it is to get it in and out at both ends. A ground-floor flat with a driveway is a different job from a third-floor walk-up on a permit street. We survey first, by video or in person, then put the figure in writing.

Yes, and that is a specific kind of job. Most blocks in Manchester and Salford require the goods lift to be booked, a loading bay reserved and sometimes a certificate of insurance lodged with the building manager. Tell us the building and we will deal with the concierge before moving day.

Regularly. Greater Manchester to London and the South, up to Scotland, across to Wales and the South West. Long-distance work is planned differently from a local move — vehicle choice, crew rest and overnight security all change — so it gets quoted as its own job.

We can do the lot, or just the awkward parts. Plenty of people pack their own books and clothes and leave us the kitchen, the glassware and the wardrobes. Materials come from us either way, and anything we pack is covered on the same terms as the rest of the load.

As soon as you have a realistic date. Fridays and month-ends go first, and so does anything in the school summer holidays. That said, we keep capacity back for short-notice work, so it is always worth asking even if the date is close.

Tell us the moment you know. Chains slip, and we would rather re-plan than hold a slot nobody can use. If the new date is available we move you to it; if it is not, we find the nearest one that works. The terms of any deposit are set out in your booking contract.

Goods in transit cover is included as standard, and the limits are stated on your quote. High-value individual items — art, instruments, jewellery, anything collectable — should be declared before the move so we can confirm they are properly covered rather than assuming it.

Yes. Beds, wardrobes, flat-pack units and garden furniture all come apart and go back together as part of the job. Fitted and built-in pieces are worth flagging at survey — some of it was built in place and does not come out in one go.

Anything hazardous — petrol, gas bottles, fireworks, paint thinners, that sort of thing. Live plants and frozen food do not travel well on a long run either. Pets travel with you, not with us. If you are unsure about an item, ask before the day rather than on it.

Yes, containerised storage for household goods and business stock. It suits a chain that has come apart, a renovation that is running on, or a downsize where the new place cannot take everything yet. Your goods go into sealed containers rather than a shared open bay.

That is normally the point of doing it out of hours. Evenings and weekends are standard for commercial work. We label by desk and department, crate the IT properly, and sequence it so the critical kit lands first and the new site opens on schedule.

Smaller jobs are what the man-and-van service is for — a single room, a student move, a few pieces of furniture between two addresses. You get a driver and a mate rather than a full crew, which keeps it proportionate.

Lots of Greater Manchester streets are permit-controlled, and some city-centre addresses have no legal stopping at all without arranging a suspension with the council. We tell you which applies at survey and sort the paperwork where it is needed.

Not always, and it is better to know in advance. Saddleworth lanes, older Oldham terraces with rear-access-only loading, and some Marple hillside streets are too tight for a full-size vehicle. Where that is the case we shuttle with a smaller van and build it into the quote.

Yes, with the right kit and enough people. Upright and grand pianos, gun safes, American fridges and large garden equipment all need planning rather than muscle. Tell us at survey — occasionally the answer involves a window and a hoist.

Customs is the difference. Since Brexit your household effects need a proper inventory and the right transit paperwork, and the vehicle needs clearing at the border. The move itself is road groupage — your load travels with others going the same way, which is why the schedule depends on the route rather than on one van.

We can take away what you are not keeping as part of a move, and dispose of it responsibly. A full probate or end-of-tenancy clearance with no move attached is a different service — worth a conversation rather than an assumption.

Promptly, and within working hours. If your move is complicated — a business relocation, a European run, a house with genuinely difficult access — we would rather take a little longer and get the figure right than send something back fast that we have to revise later.
